The sports and recreational park Evropark is an excellent example of restoration of the areas called Ruardi, which previously served as a site for depositing slag and waste from nearby mines.
Evropark has a small airfield with a 450-metre long runway, and below it there are archery facilities as well as a football pitch.
Two small connected flow-through ponds were built during reconstruction of the Kotredeščica stream, and there are also walking trails and a cycling trail.
Evropark also includes a children’s playground, the “Argonaut” ship, street work-out, open-air fitness, playground for the handicapped, pumptrack, Aunt Johanca’s garden and several downhill trails – Cilenca trails.
The park got its current name in 2004, at the eve of Slovenia’s entry into the EU.
