Štangovc cave, or Markov Štangovc (Marko’s Štangovc) as its name is entered in the Karst cave cadastre of Slovenia, is a pit cave, a diagonal cave and a multi-floor cave. And it achieves all that in its 99 m of length and 30 m of depth. The cave entrance lies 580 m above sea level, under the Big rock (Velika skala) above Kisovec. It was officially discovered and explored on 1st August, 1973, the first explorers being dr. Peter Habič, member of the Institute for Karst research, Ivan Kenda, cave explorer who was the first to make a written record about entering the cave and entered the cave into the Karst cave cadastre of Slovenia, Alojz Vadnjal and Franc Malečkar.
